To answer the certification requests, perform the certification work in the name of the superior interest of citizens enlightened on the question of software freedom, we need a third party, a neutral agent, stamping a seal of guarantee that is credible in the eye of all.
ISO 65?
There is already an international standard meant for organizations offering certification services. The requirements to obtain the ISO 65 accreditation are the following :
- Independence: a certification body must be independent of any external pressure being able to influence a certification decision.
- Transparency: the evaluation and certification processes must be transparent and explained to all parties before inspection.
- Quality: There exist a quality control system supported by regular internal audits to identify problems and continuously improve service.
- Equality: all producers must be treated equally.
- Reliability: external audits are conducted to ensure all these principles and procedures.
