The French Gendarmerie is a clear example of successful state departments that said no to proprietary software and have opened their doors to the Free Software world, managing to:

  • achieve independence from commercial software providers
  • powerful IT governance
  • significantly reducing the cost on computing activities by 40%
  • massive decreasing of technical interventions (due to solid-as-a-rock OS)
